What is lawn sanding?
Lawn sanding is the practice of spreading a layer of sand and/or organic
product on top of your existing lawn to level it and make it smooth so that
when it is mowed it produces a great looking lawn. While appearance is the main
reason most people choose to topdress their lawn, there are several other
reasons to do so. We will discuss these positives as we tell you about our
process:
-
We will use commercial mowers to scalp your lawn down to a height that allows
the topdress material access to the soil beneath the turf.
-
We will then use a core aerator to aerate the soil. This process allows the
material we use to penetrate to the soil profile and benefits the soil long
term. It also relieves compaction and encourages deeper root growth, which will
in turn allow your turf more access to moisture deep within the ground. It also
provides more access for your turf plant to oxygen, which it needs to thrive.
-
We will then use our professional topdress machine to spread our special
blended product onto you lawn. We use only USGA sand that has been approved by
the U.S. Golf Association for use on golf courses. This sand is weed-free,
unlike many other types you can buy. We then blend this sand with
Erth Food®
to create a product that will add fertilizer and vital micro and macro
nutrients to your soil to improve the soil structure. This will result in a
very quick green-up to your turf. We normally see a total re-growth of the turf
within 7-10 days, depending on watering practices. Erth Food is a purely
organic product that enhances water and nutrient holding capacities and
improves soil structure, further limiting the amount of water your turf will
need. This process also will help to eliminate thatch by heating it up and
breaking it down, thereby creating more useful topsoil. Thatch is the dead
grass lying just on top of your soil, and is also the place where most turf
diseases start.
-
The turf area will then be dragged and swept to insure that the product is
spread evenly and to eliminate all low and high spots.
-
We will then clean up any mess we may have made. We will also blow off your
driveway, sidewalk, and street in front of your home leaving it looking nice
and neat
As you can see the process of sanding your lawn involves much more
than just spreading sand on top of your turf, it also provides your turf with
all it needs to thrive. It is a FACT that the best defense for any lawn against
weeds, pests, and diseases is a healthy turf. We can help you get started. Call
